twenty-one

My 21^st birthday was perfect. I was surrounded by loving people all day. 

Luckily classes ended the day before; so I was able to go home after my last class. 

I woke up to my yellow walls, peace and tranquility. After lying in bed for a little while, 

responding to birthday text/fb messages/tweets, I got ready to do some shopping. 

My boyfriend came over, took some pictures of course, and headed to the mall. 

I did some very thoughtful shopping (which I find myself doing more as I get older). 

Aside from getting some lovely pieces, I got something from Under Armour for the first time;

 I’m so serious about this summer workout plan! I also got a tripod for my camera! 

It’s so funny because last year my focus for my birthday was getting my Nikon. 

Beau said I should make this a birthday tradition and get another lens next year.

Later that day I had a small dinner at my house. The food and wine was amazing!! 

(thanks to my stepmom). I wish my gal friends could have been there though but they’re all away at school. 

I had this little 70s thing going on; the hair, dress, and shoes.

I love the heat but it doesn't correlate well with natural hair. Hair slowly turns back into a fro. 

 Frizz everywhereeeee! lol I'll be wrapping her up soon. I'm thinking curls :)

My wardrobe is craving more platforms; they’re simply amazing. 

These platforms didn’t get much wear back in high school. 

I used to think they were maybe “too much” for the time. 

But I definitely don’t shy away from wearing them now.

 I enjoy being comfortably heightened.

I always fall for UK artist.

The first time I saw Rita Ora was when she was in NY with Jay-z promoting her first single.

She instantly gave me Rihanna tease and being a big Rih Rih fan I was like “oh nah, who’s this chick?”

But then I started watching her interviews and vlogs and listened to some of her music and realized she actually has talent.

Her style is edgy; badgyal nahcurr lol (only way I can describe it!)

She’s from Kosovo; which makes her even more intriguing.

I wish everyone could bask in the beauty of Haiti first-hand. Being that the media only shows Port-au-Prince, people instantly equate ONE city with the entire country. So crazy and so ignorant! The mountains create breath-taking scenery. Ayiti (Haiti) actually stands for mountainous region. Imagine living or being surrounded by mountains. And the beaches are everything! Crystal-clear water, palm trees, and mountains in the background. Lovely.

Yesterday I left the place that I love most. Where I took my first breath, my first step and said my first words. After seeing the condition of Haiti in August 2010, I told myself that I could no longer spend my time in Haiti being idle. Spring break 2012 was life changing. I will be sharing my experience with you in the next few post. Stay tuned :)

Spots x Stripes

I’ve come to the realization that I have a love for cheetahs and tigers…especially cheetahs. It’s weird that they impact the world in ways that they will never know. Their presence is embedded in jewelry, interior design, art, photography and clothing. I think that everyone has a favorite animal. I’ve finally found mine :)
